Understanding Health Information Privacy
It is an essential element that phlebotomist practicing in the phlebotomy industry are fully aware of the HIPAA Privacy Rule. The rule provides federal protection for personal health information that is held by covered entities and gives patients an assortment of rights with respect to that information. The HIPAA Privacy Rule is balanced so that it authorizes the disclosure of personal health information needed for patient care and other important purposes.
